As you likely already know, earlier in the week an earthquake in Virginia occurred causing people as far as Detroit, Michigan and Toronto, Ontario. If people felt the quake and subsequent aftershocks, what about the libraries, museums, and monuments located in the region?
A fellow MLIS candidate shared, via the listserv, a set of photos from the University of Maryland library system. According to the university’s Flickr page, “McKeldin Library at the University of Maryland was the site of a major cleanup after more than 13,000 books fell from their shelves following a rare East Coast earthquake…Materials also fell at other libraries on campus, including Hornbake Library and the Architecture Library.”
